Art Classes for Ages 2.5-12

In our Foundations Program students learn fundamental skills of both drawing and painting. Each student is guided through a program that is entirely customized to him or her, choosing images that interest them most, from projects geared to their individual skill level. Regardless of level, each project offers the student greater knowledge of the medium and the chance to further develop his or her skills. Students progress at their own pace, moving on from simpler linear subject matter to more complex three-dimensional subject matter as their skills develop, and as teachers feel they are ready. Over time students explore a broad range of traditional mediums and subject matter ultimately including landscape, animals, and still life.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum offers Discovery Camps throughout the year, as well as toddler/caregiver classes for on various topics. Our camps and classes provide child-directed, inquiry driven learning through project-based, hands-on activities.

The Digital Arts and Culinary Academy's mission is to help participants grow and build self confidence through the learning of at least one of four components in our program: Digital Audio Production, Digital Video Production, Culinary Arts, or Urban Agriculture. Our goal is to help our youth and young adults excel and create a better life and community for themselves and others. We offer a host of programs including: afterschool classes, summer day camps, summer classes, and even some adult classes.

KCAT offers hands-on media classes for kids in live TV, movie making, editing, podcasting, and acting, along with after-school programs and summer and winter camps that build creativity and production skills.

Everyone in the Tri-Valley should have the opportunity to experience the arts at whatever age and whatever level they are. Livermore Arts offers educational activities and classes, performances at schools and at the Bankhead Theater, and free events for the whole family. For students, there are also workshops and master classes with visiting artists. Portions of these activities are underwritten through generous contributions and matching gifts to our education fund.

Seven amazing days in the majestic California redwoods playing music, dancing, singing, writing, and connecting with new and old friends! No matter what level of experience, from complete beginners on up, campers can choose from 20+ workshops.

In Studio and Online classes

Experience Art, PVA’s educational program, provides students and teachers the opportunity to make, exhibit and tour fine art exhibits free of charge, to learn about and better understand art, art making, and the expressive qualities of art made by outstanding regional artists. PVA hosts field trips for all grade levels, year-round, requiring additional staff, and outreach efforts. We inform schools about content, and learning opportunities; create and distribute teacher resource guides; and schedule tours, often outside of gallery hours. We offer bilingual services if requested. Gallery tours provide opportunities for students, teachers, and parents to broaden their understanding of art, medium, and techniques.

Our after school program offers children infinite opportunity to engage with nature, connect with our food systems, befriend animals typically viewed as “food”, learn, grow, express their creativity, get dirty and enjoy the experience of being a kid!

We offer programs for schools and groups as well as public programs that introduce people to the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuges, the wildlife and habitat we protect, and how people can be good stewards of the environment.

SCRAP-in-a-Box is an arts enrichment program that serves students in San Francisco's after-school and OST programs focusing on underserved communities, especially in the Bayview and SF's Southeast Corridor.

Studio One's youth activities are designed to expose the youth a variety of activities. Our Master Artist lead visual, digital and performing arts classes that encourage youth to take chances and express themselves while making new friends in a fun community setting.

The Art in Science mission is to instill a love of science in kids (ages 4-12) through an innovative curriculum that enriches kids in various scientific disciplines, using hands-on experiments.
