For students going into grades 7-12 with a suggested minimum of one year of lessons for all instruments. Songwriting is a multi-disciplinary practice that helps young people shape identity, build community, and grow literacy, musical, and pattern recognition skills through self-expression. Blue Bear's Songwriting Summer Camp is led by renowned Bay Area artist and educator Bonnie Hayes, who spent the past 9 years as Chair of the Songwriting Dept. at Berklee in Boston.  This camp is for kids interested in writing and performing original music (not instrumentals). Campers should be able to sing and/or play an instrument.  There will be lots of collaboration and co-writing as students create, arrange, practice, and perform an amazing array of new songs.

The camp runs from 10 am-3 pm Monday-Thursday and 10 am-5:30 pm on Friday.  Expect an intense week of learning and fun!
