May Second Saturday: Fun with Flowers - Gamble Garden

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 05/14/2022
All ages are invited to join a guided tour of the historic house and gardens on a beautiful September morning. The garden will be bountiful with fruits and vegetables ready for harvest! Many creatures visit Gamble Garden for food, nesting or resting. Join our Garden Guides as we explore the many animals and plants that can be found throughout the garden. We’ll get our “nature eyes” working as we explore, look for birds and pollinators, overturn rocks and logs, and discover the many different ways the garden provides habitat for animals, both big and small.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Guided Tours and Nature Hunts

Come get your “nature eyes” working and join a guide as we explore throughout the garden. We’ll look for birds and pollinators, dig for worms and critters in the soil, and discover the wonderful world of flowers.

Flowers Arranging Workshop for Children

The Garden Club of Palo Alto will once again sponsor a Children’s Flower Arranging Workshop at Gamble Garden. The last workshop in 2019 was a smashing success! Each child will be given a small vase to fill with flowers which they can take home. The range of arranging techniques displayed by the children is always quite amazing and fun to see.

Edible Flowers Exploration

Gorgeous pansies, vibrant violas, romantic roses, aromatic herb flowers, savory veggie flowers, and native plants so important to the land’s earliest inhabitants – you’ll be amazed at how many flowers in our garden are actually edible. Come find them with us, and even taste a few.

Visit Elizabeth’s House

Walk through Elizabeth’s house, built in 1902, and get a look into the early days of Palo Alto. Our docents will be on hand to answer questions and share stories of old. *Gamble Garden follows Santa Clara County Public Health Department COVID-19 requirements and guidelines. Masks are strongly recommended indoors but are not required. *

Registration required for this free event.

Second Saturday is free and appropriate for all ages. Ideal for ages 3-12! Register for timed entry at 10, 10:30, and 11 AM. Register in advance or at the door. We look forward to seeing you on Second Saturday!
