This workshop is designed for 5th-8th grade students to learn how to share their own experience with others. Our workshop allows students to reflect on them and create an original 5-minute Original Narrative speech that could inspire others. Students will learn storytelling skills, and practice creativity in students' own voices.
Original Narrative is a personal story that is tied to a theme (e.g. overcoming challenges). Students will explore the fundamentals of narrative writing, through the use of different themes and learn how to develop an audience grabbing plot. Create a solid introduction to get their audience's attention, while developing the rise and fall of the action they must overcome. Then students learn how to deliver their story to engage with the audience.
This workshop is led by a coach with 8+ years of competitive and coaching experience and former president of the Maricopa Speech & Debate Team. Upon completion of this workshop students will have the opportunity to practice their skills at our annual internal tournament on Nov 18th, try our other workshops or enroll in our semester based classes.
